Top games to kickstart your Print and Play Adventure

So the day has finally arrived.

You’ve made up your mind: you will give print and play games a shot. Bravo!

Like any adventure, you want to have a cracking start at print-and-play games. So our team went on to curate a list of four games that we feel would be the perfect launching pad for you to explore the realm of PnP games. Shall we begin?

Be free from distractions, and spare at least 5 minutes for what we are about to share with you.

To ensure you get a diversified experience, we chose 4 different types of games for you to start your adventure:
1. A game of Roll and Strategize
2. A game of Roll and Write
3. A game of Puzzle
4. A game based on Cards

The games we recommend to kickstart your journey are primarily solo-player, but can also be played in an interactive mode for group play. And all of them are available for free!

A game of Roll and Strategize | Escape of the Dead 1

Escape of the Dead is an enticing game to start your PnP journey. The game has a simple motto- kill zombies, make sure you are protected, and fix your car to escape with your life. It is a game of opportunity cost, where your decision-making skills will be put to the test. The game can be learned in one or two rounds, and the gameplay duration is around 15 minutes.

Why we love this game is the sheer simplicity of it, and how all you need to play this game is to print and laminate one page (black-and-white), along with 4 D6 dice.

We give Escape of the Dead 1 a solid 10/10 as a starter game for the newbies.

A game of Roll and Write | Lantern

Lantern is an award-winning game in the category of roll-and-write, in which you take on enemies on different levels and defeat them to emerge victorious. It is a fun and fast game that can be learned and played in no time. All you need is to print and laminate one page, and 6 dice.  It is more advanced than Escape of the Dead, and the reason we are a big fan of this game is for the dice mechanism incorporated into it. The game is much more than rolling and allocation of the dice, as there are interesting mechanisms like flipping dice in the opposite direction, adding or subtracting values, re-rolling dice, etc.

We are also a big fan of this game for the potential customization that the game offers, which our team explored gleefully.

We highly recommend Lantern for its repeatability!

A game of Puzzle | Ambagibus

It is not a typical game of puzzles- for instead of solving, you need to successfully build mazes! It is a game that you can play on a lazy afternoon, with very few rules to follow, and very portable as the game literally fits in the palm of your hand! All you need is a flat surface, and you are ready to go. The game might be simple, but the wide range of mazes that you can make with it is what we love the most about it.

What we loved most about it are the different levels it has, as well as how the game experience gets enhanced with the introduction of time. It is not in the official rules, but playing it with a timer, on a 1v1 format is a treat for gamers!

We highly recommend Ambagibus for its ease of learning, and for being flexible enough for us to experiment and enhance the game.

A game based on Cards | All is Bomb

A game where everything is a bomb! All is bomb is a highly entertaining game where all you need is 18 cards and a knack for planning things ahead of time. It is more advanced than the three games we mentioned so far and offers much more challenge as well. But the challenges make the game quite repeatable, and being difficult to win also makes the victories worth it.

What we love about All is Bomb is its sheer compactness (no additional elements needed) and its expansion pack to add new dimensions to the game.

We highly recommend All is Bomb for its entertainment value and catchiness, and for all the foodies out there. After all, the game is based on preparing a delicious breakfast for the princess!

How to start?

Don’t just download and dive into the games right away!

After playing print-and-play games for quite a while, we realized that the information concerning PnP games is quite scattered. We wanted a dedicated zone online where we will get to know about:
– the summary of the game
– relatability with other games
– how to print and prepare it
– recommended materials and additional equipment
– the best part of the game
– the source of downloading the game
– playthrough video of the game
– possible customization of the game, and
– rating for gameplay, shelving, travel-friendly, etc.

And we made the zone by ourselves!

Feel free to check out the game reviews that we curated for the four games. Take your time learning and building the games, involve your friends if you like them, customize games to your preference, and throw a game night!

With print-and-play games, the sky’s the limit!
